Marisa Constantinides on Pecha Kucha Night at IATEFL International in 2018

Conference Presentations

SWITZERLAND – ETAS ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Held in Zofingen, early in 2018, it gave us the opportnity to connect with teachers in central Europe and enjoy some of the fine dining in the area and Zurich! The topic of drawing on student emotional responses for more effective learning was highly successful.

  MOROCCO – MATE ANNUAL CONFERENCE

A first visit in this fascinating country and great Teacher Association which organised a fantastic and highly creative conference in Layoune, in the South of the country. The topic of creativity found great response amongst some highly creative teachers and organisers!

UK – IATEFL ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN BRIGHTON
Revisiting Brighton to give this talk was great and though the weather was not as sweet as my first time in 2011, the audience provided all the warmth needed with their great response to this very hot topic that always worries teachers – to teach or not to teach grammar!!

INTERNATIONAL PUBLISHER’S EXHIBITION IN ATHENS
Marisa Constantinides & George Vassilakis presented a joint talk about the big divide between training and CPD. The talk focused on the different focus of courses that promote learning teaching techniques vs courses that promote deeper thinking and reflection.
EUROPALSO SUMMER SEMINARS IN ATHENS IN JULY

Talking to foreign language school owners about how to hire great teachers and how to find them proved very exciting for many LTO operators. It was great to see that more and more local ELT managers are looking for qualified staff and not for the least qualified and trained teachers just because they are the cheapest.

EUROPALSO SUMMER SEMINARS IN ATHENS IN JULY
This was the second talk delivered in Greek by Marisa Constantinides this year on a topic she is known to have done a lot of work in recent years – creativity and critical thinking in teachers and in learners. Foreign language school owners were interested in the techniques that motivated learners as well as teaching staff!

IATEFL ANNUAL WEB CONFERENCE IN NOVEMBER

More than 300 members and non-members attended Marisa’s session at the 4th IATEFL web conference organised for all members and for teachers who cannot go to the UK for the main event. Marisa Constantinides was invited for the second time to be a keynote presenter on the important topic of how to help new teachers become familiar with teaching with digital tools.
