aPLaNet EU funded Project

CELT Athens is participating in a proposed project with the aim of helping educators create and develop their own and their learners’ Personal Learning Networks.

As part of the project, partners in the different participating EU countries will need to develop, trial and disseminate materials which will be made globally and freely vailable for use.

If you have used social networks before to create and strengthen your PLN, then you might be interested in participating as a mentor – someone who takes a ‘newbie’ under their wing and show them how to use Twitter, or Nings, Facebook, or any other social media, for educational purposes.

If you have never used social networks so far but are interested in learning more about how you could use them for your own professional development and for your learners, then you should apply as a piloting teacher.

We encourage teachers and schools to take advantage of this great opportunity to learn all about how to use social networks for learning and hope that you will pass on the information to more interested colleagues.

What Does Collaborating in this Way Mean?

Collaboration as an Associate partner to a European Union multilateral funded education project is an educator that is involved in a limited and clearly defined way with the project. An Associate partner does not receive any funding and volunteers to carry out clearly defined tasks and may not be responsible for core activities of the project (e.g. management, coordination, leader of a work group etc.).

What Are the Benefits to you and/or your Organisation?

All those educators who participate in this project, will have the opportunity to network with a large number of professionals around the EU and, most especially they will

• build or extend their own Professional Learning Network
• gain experience of processes involved in piloting or mentoring, depending on their role
• develop their own professional network with educators around the globe
• gain experience of working in an EU project – a valuable addition to an educator’s curriculum vitae
